Following the Lord in Capetown - Day 1

Our taxi driver, David, picked us up bright and early this morning and took us down to the waterfront. It was a spectacular day with not a cloud in the sky - sunny and warm. We decided to sit outside and enjoy a muffin and coffee before starting our touristy explorations. Our first conference time wasnt beginning until 6pm so we had most of the day.

As we were drinking our coffee and enjoying the moment, we heard a beautiful voice singing "Where the Spirit of the Lord is....". We looked over and one of the young waitresses was singing this! Karen got up and went to speak to this young girl, named Michelle. She also introduced us to another friend Primrose, who was also a believer. We chatted for awhile, and we told them about Global Day of Prayer..there was much excitement and we exchanged email addresses and took some photos. Michelle and her husband have been planting a church here for the past year and asked us to be praying for them.

After our time with the girls, we went down to the water, prayed at the waters edge and then decided to take a short tour on a boat named "Dawn". While we waited for the boat, we were given permission to use a picnic table on their dock. There was a group of young primary school children who were taking the tour before us. As the boat was backing up with the children, Karen took out her new horn called a "vuvuzela". She blew three short blasts as the children departed and it was like praying honour and blessing over them. Karen was stopped frequently today by the locals asking where she got this vuvuzela - its so beautiful. One guy wanted to blow the horn, so Karen let him..

So we did the double decker bus tour going all around Capetown, learning about the history and the area. Here are some pics from the tour:

As we realized it was getting close to the conference time, we thought we could take a bus over to the centre. Unfortunately the traffic was so bad that the bus driver suggested that we walk the 4 or 5 blocks, but we really didnt know how to get there. As the Lord would have it, he placed a very tall British man in our path who walked us all the way through, showing us the way there.

Our evening opening was truly incredible ..repentance, healing, sharing, singing, dancing, blowing horns, raising flags, dancing across the front stage representing Canada, praying with and for one another, meeting people from all over the globe!!!!!!! The theme of 2010 GDOP is reconciliation and in the witness of delegates from 100 nations, a representation from the Koi (first indigenous peoples), from the Blacks and from the Dutch (white settlers)honestly and openly confessed their sins to one another, for their lack of love and honoring, and for their bitterness and resentment. It was a very significant time of repentance and forgiveness in the nation which concluded with a prophetic act of handing the country over to Christ.

Graham Powers(who first had the vision for GDOP)had been asked "How many more times do we repent and ask forgiveness for the past?" He answered, "Until the people who have been wronged, no longer feel the pain" This repentance opened the door for healing and led us into a night of celebrative worship, with all the nations unified as one, and with the blessing of the children intercessors prayed over us. Below is a picture of one of the children intercessors who prayed a most incredible and powerful prayer of authority!

Father Anton from India told us about his mandate to care for the orphans, to bring them to Jesus, and then raise them up as child intercessors for India and for the nations. GDOP had requested that Father Anton and the children who now number in the 10's of thousands, to pray for GDOP 2010. They prayed for 24 weeks, 24 hours per day. Some of these children were able to attend the conference and are available to pray for and with those who come to the prayer room to receive ministry. Karen and I will be taking in this blessing sometime this week!

We also met a young couple tonight from Kenya who have a heart for orphans and widows and we have their email and contact information. We had a powerful prayer time with them at the end. We will post some pictures of them soon.

The Spirit is moving and we are following His lead. I wonder what the Lord has in store for tomorrow.
