Following the Lord in Capetown - Day 3

We arrived at the Convention Centre at 7:30 am this morning with David, our trust taxi driver. David is from East Cape, is 65 years old, and has lived through the apartheid years through the abolishment 15 years ago. He has a great knowledge of history and people and he attends a Methodist Church. We are not sure about his walk with God, so please pray for David that the Lord will become even more real to him in affirming him with His Father's heart.

There was a bit of prayer time happening and then we broke out in a worship time led by some young adults. There were a few songs, and then they began to sing "I am Free". During this song, the Spirit began to move. We ended up running around the circumference of the sancturary in a line, with our Canadian flag and others following suit. There were others running with their flags, and a young women brought her own flags to the front and began to worship. It was truly a beautiful and passionate time of praise. We are indeed free to run and there was a revelation of that freedom through this song!

There were a few speakers next presenting different "streams". We especially appreciated a pastor from Africa who spoke about youth. He began by stressing that what the youth needed first and foremost was to connect with God through their family and that it was the church's responsibility to help them know that there is a place for them, and that they belong and are significant in the Body of Christ. It is our responsibility to facilitate releasing our young people into their potential in the Lord.

We also had the pleasure of finding the young African man who had prayed for us yesterday. His name is Babatunde from Nigeria, pastoring in Johannesburg. Today we had the honor of praying for him! Please pray for him as he has requested prayer for knowing what God has called him to do, and the courage to carry it out. We believe that God has given him a message for the church, but he will need wisdom and grace to know God's timing.

We also had the opportunity to hear Dr. Francois Carr from Heart Cry in South Africa. He speaks on revival beginning on a personal level, with its foundation based in intimacy with the Lord and obedience to his voice, with a willingness to RUN! He stresses the importance of learning to hear God's voice for yourself, and then following through with unconditional obedience no matter the cost. Here is a link to his site for more information:

Lunch time!! and we want to introduce you to our favourite waiter!

Craig is a young man in his twenties who has an incredible gift of hospitality. He attends a Catholic Church and has a very high respect for God's Word. He shared Proverbs 16:2 with us: Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed. Please pray for him for guidance and wisdom as his desire is to open his own restaurant.

We had a few things to pick up so after lunch we had a few hours off and walked into part of the downtown.

This was definately a meeting area for the local people full of coffee shops, shoe repair stands, fruit stands, bordered by small stores.

Karen found a group of youth in a large central square area that were all sitting around.

The teenagers were sitting on the steps of a fountain looking a little strangely at Karen. It might have been the vuvuzela and shofar sticking out of her backpack that drew the attention. She asked them if they would like her to blow the vuvuzela for them and they did - so she blasted it right in the middle of the square! That vuvuzela has had alot of attention :)

Later between 4pm-6pm was the closing ceremony for the conference. Graham Powers, the visionary of GDOP gave closing words to the conference followed by a prophetic act done by the interessors from GDOP.

In 2002 God told a friend of Graham's that he was being called to mix a specially blended annointing oil that would go out to every nation. He told us that his first thought was "Wow, thats alot of travelling!". He was later given understanding of the precise blend of the oil in that it would be dispursed through the delegates that came to 2010 GDOP. It was then further explained that purpose of the oil was not specifically for healing as they had thought but as a symbol of the oil for the "fire of God" to burn. Every delegate received at least one vial of oil, and a representative of each nation took a box of 144. Get ready for the fire - a season of fire! Graham Powers asked Cindy Jacobs to share with us a picture she had received for Capetown and the Global Day of Prayer.

If you want to hear this, we will be getting a copy of this before we leave. Our time concluded with communion.

We have one more day on Sunday that will be held at the stadium - a prayer gathering to pray for the world. There are 100 nations represented at the conference and as of today, every one of the 220 nations in the world are participating. We know it will be an amazing time together. The word "open heavens" has been given by a number of people.
