Capetown - Here We Come!!

Our next assignment - We're going to Global Day of Prayer in South Africa!! How cool is that?

So Karen and I just wanted to update you on this roller coaster ride and how this has all come about. Up until last week, it looked like we were not going which we were fine with but then something shifted and everything has come together in the last two days....here is the order of events

========

For over a month now, Karen and I have been wrestling with the Lord discerning if it was His will that we attend Global Day of Prayer in Capetown this year. Donny McGregor of Generation Fire Austrailia first twigged us onto the opportunity back at the beginning of 2010. off and on since then we had been praying about it. Due to a number of reasons, one being financial, its just seemed a bit over the top to even be knocking at the door. But both Karen and I had a sense that we were to keep pressing into this possibility and keep knocking on all doors. It was actually a very grueling process but the words "How bad do you want this?" kept us going. Last week we prayed with Cindy (our third Ring of Fire intercessor) and gave the Lord a date whereby we would have confirmation (May 1st). She mentioned a "token" financial gift as part of the confirmation. Two days ago, we came to the end of what we could do on our own.

This past Thursday, we received a very affirming email from a trusted intercessor from Ontario, Glenn Duncan, and we began the day in prayer with another intercessor friend, Barbara Forsdike who agreed to link arms with us. Then, a contact Mike,Scott had made through Keats Camp brought the breakthrough in offering us almost free accommodation only 5 minutes from the stadium venue. After this, in the span of an hour and a half, the process of reserving air tickets (for a great price!) landed in our laps!!!!!!! We also received financial help from two unexpected sources. Karen was so overwhelmed she had to run outside and go for a walk! haaha.

Friday morning the tickets were reserved and paid for through an amazing travel agent we got connected with through Global Day of Prayer (they give missionary discounts) . We leave for Seattle on May 15th, our flight leaves the next day at noon. We arrive in Capetown on May 17th and leave for home again on the evening of May 27th. Part of our time will be spent in Capetown, during the conference, and then we have also been offered to stay 45 minutes away in a resort area (Gordon's Bay) for the next 3 days, for some R&R - free as well.

We have also been offered free accommodation from a friend in Seattle plus a free place to park our car and a free shuttle to and from the airport. wow, how many times have I said the word "Free".? this is crazy..the only cost we have is for food and flight. Then last night someone else stepped forward with more financial assistance.

WIll try to keep you updated ;) We're just trying to get ourselves organized, we have less than two weeks until we leave!

Let the fire fall!!
